The Day of the Chinese Language in the Eurasian Humanities Institute

On 22 November 2019 at the Eurasian Humanities Institute there was held the Day of the Chinese language. The holiday was organized and celebrated by the administration of the Department of foreign languages and the teachers of the Chinese language: Akhmetbek Madina and Duysek Tulek.

The most remarkable event of the Day was signing the Memorandum about mutual understanding between EAGI and the Institute of Konfutsy.

From the side of EAGI at the ceremony of signing the Memorandum there were present: the First Vice-Rector Issmayilov A.D., Vice- Rector on the educational work Ospanova Ya.N., the Director of the Department on academic issues and accreditation Zagatova S.B., the administration of the Department of foreign languages, the Director of the Institute library Khamzina S.B. The Institute of Konfutsy under the L.N. Gumilyov ENU was represented by Mr. Yan Lay, the executive Director Aitbayeva Rauyilya Tanatkanovna and the teachers of the Konfutsy Institute.

In honor of the holiday there was held a concert with participation of the students learning the Chinese language. The program of the concert included the performance in the Kazakh and Chinese languages. In the second half of the program Yan Lay delivered an interactive lecture on the theme: “Socially spoken etiquette in modern Chinese language – Chinese surnames and first names”. At the lecture there were present the teachers of the Department of foreign languages, the Department of Pedagogy, the Department of economic and mathematical disciplines and the students of the Department of foreign languages. The lecture aroused a great interest among the students and the guests. As it is known the rules of etiquette and greetings represent the whole philosophy in the Chinese culture. The students of the Department took an active part at the lecture. Yan Lay expressed gratitude and appreciated the organization of the holiday, the knowledge of our students highly and underlined that the signed Memorandum and the holiday itself are a kind of a bridge between two countries for further collaboration.
